Buying Tips
BE AN INFORMED BUYER
Apartment or house? Luxury executive apartments with an innovative use of space can offer the proportions of a house plus a range of additional amenities like pools, gyms, top security and secure parking. Houses are a great option for families and are abundant in many inner city suburbs.
Work out what you can and can’t live without. Make a list of non-negotiables. Some people can’t live without a bright northern aspect while others need easy ground floor access. Think about outdoor space, parking, whether you want something in immaculate condition or looking to do some renovating. Searching for the perfect property can take time, and you may have to revise your list a along the way.
Choose your location. Harbour or beach? Walk to work or somewhere with a lively café and restaurant culture? Narrow down your search suburbs and work out what your dollar buys in each.
Do you research. Informed buyers come to understand the value of properties in their desired area. Get in touch with agents, attend lots of open homes, go to auctions and see what median market prices are.
Think about timing. Spring and summer are the busiest months in real estate with the largest number of properties on the market. While autumn and winter are quieter, there are also fewer buyers looking so you have less competition.
